Ghost Hunters turn the spotlight on the Pensacola Lighthouse By Laura Merwin, MassLive.com November 19, 2009, 11:16AM
Have the Ghost Hunters seen the light? This show was much fresher and dare I say it, more fun, than the 'usual Ghost Hunters fare.'
Three cheers for the Ghost Hunters. No, I haven’t ‘lost it,’ I just really found a lot to like in last night’s episode. There were more than a couple glimmers of the old TAPS that we knew and loved, ok, that I knew and loved anyway.
Opening the episode back in the old TAPS headquarters was a nice change. No questionable on-camera plumbing, no ‘surprise’ phone call from Kris; just a good old straight office meeting about a new case-- awesome. Pensacola Lighthouse was built in 1858 and is now under the care of the US Coast Guard and it is still an active lighthouse. The case was brought to the attention of TAPS by George Harris of the Blue Angels, although, I can’t say that I have even the faintest idea who the ‘Blue Angels’ are and it really wasn’t explained in the episode. Reported experiences include the ever popular footsteps, apparitions, voices and objects being moved/thrown.
The team, again this week, was joined by Dustin Pari of Ghost Hunters International and Britt Griffith as replacements for Steve and Tango who, we were told repeatedly, were off doing Ghost Hunters Academy stuff. Kris and Amy were there as well. Taking the tour Jason, Grant and Dustin were regaled with stories of a possible murder and to Grant’s credit he actually asked if there was any documentation to the claims. One major point that was different on this tour is we were treated to Grant taking the lead and asking that all important question “Where to next?” It’s a little thing, but it made such a huge difference in getting this show out of the rut that it has been in, it really went a long way toward freshening up the place. I’ll take it!
I won’t go into the particulars of this show as I know a lot of you record for later viewing, however, I will say that it definitely is worth a look. In between some really good investigating where Britt and Amy actually take seats in opposite ends of a hallway in order to get more coverage, rather than the usual Kris and Amy being joined at the hip on some sofa somewhere, we were treated to a little bit of the old ‘fun team’ with a scene of Kris picking on Dustin Pari about the dramatic phrasing of his questions. Nice.
Another great plus to this episode was the lack of ‘stuff.’ Stuff that everyone has been completely over for the past couple of years. We did NOT get a definition of an EVP, we did NOT have to listen to Jay ask ‘Where to next?” We did NOT have to watch Kris and Amy sitting around pointing a flashlight at stuff. We did NOT see the team hear one knock and then leave, in fact Amy even suggests that they stay longer since the location seemed to be active. Indeed.
I really did enjoy this episode of the Ghost Hunters and I really hope that this becomes the new pattern for the show, as in, they cut it out with the ‘pattern’ and change things up.
Next week, sadly, now that the guys seem to be on a roll and getting back to the fun, we have no new episode of Ghost Hunters. There will, however, be a new episode of Ghost Hunters Academy.

I saw this episode, and it was a good one. Yea, that "Where to next", and "after you" are very predictable. Always the same old line. Anyways, I still love watching them. I have not watched the "Ghost Hunters Academy" yet. Anyone like it?

Coincidentally, I was thinking along these lines last week when I watched re-runs of "Ghost Hunters" prior to "Ghost Hunters Academy" - I, too, miss the days when Jason and Grant supposedly still worked for Roto Rooter and the atmosphere was a lot more casual - I am still trying to find out what happened to Donna and Andy - both seem to have disappeared into the stratosphere without any explanation - I liked both of them and their approaches to investigation!
